Today is a special day for us at Bam Boom Cloud as we are big believers in diversity and inclusion! Therefore, on International Women’s Day, we want to encourage other firms to do the same. As a female-owned business ourselves, we want to help inspire other companies to join in and build our community together so that we can #BreakTheBias, the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day.
WHY WE NEED MORE WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY
It has been proven that a diverse workforce helps improve the productivity and creativity of a team, but we still have a way to go within the technology industry. 20 years ago, only 36% of the computing workforce was women. One would expect that things have improved since then but unfortunately, we’ve seen a steady decline to 25%. When we look at leadership positions, the percentage of women is even lower – 5% at CEO level and 11.5% at other top executive roles. “It’s not a women’s issue, it’s a human issue.” says Gavriella Shuster, Former Corporate Vice President Microsoft Corp and D&I Advocate.
As we come up to the 1-year anniversary under our new name and vision, we are proud of all the fabulous women that we have onboard with us. As a technology company, to say that 33% of our staff, 53% of our North American team and 58% of the amazing people who’ve joined us in the last 6 months are women, is something we are very proud of.
“What this also demonstrates is that there is an interest from women to be a part of our industry and that we have to keep pushing to make it not only accessible, but normalize women in tech”, says Vicky Critchley, CEO of Bam Boom Cloud. “I am so proud of how far we have come and to have this crew of Super Women on my team to help Bam Boom Cloud continue to grow. I have seen firsthand the positive impact of having these diverse groups internally as well as with our clients.”
